Apex police are investigating after a woman was robbed and carjacked in a Target parking lot Wednesday morning.
Authorities said the woman was parked between the Target and Lowes at the Beaver Creek Shopping Center when a man with a handgun approached her at about 10 a.m.
The man demanded the woman’s keys and wallet at gunpoint before leaving with her car, police said.
n a statement, Apex police described the suspect as a Hispanic man believed to be 18 to 30 years old with acne scars on his face. He was seen wearing a white t-shirt, blue jeans and dark sneakers. According to police, the suspect had been seen before the carjacking in a Lowe\'s Home Improvement store.
He fled from the scene in the woman\'s mocha 2010 Chevy Equinox, which was not believed to have been recovered as of Thursday.
Authorities are warning residents to remain aware of their surroundings and always park close to the door of a shop if possible.
